Accessibility

As part of our Corporate Social Responsibility and our sustainability ambitions for the Scenarios Forum, we are working to ensure conference is as accessible and inclusive as far as reasonably practicable.

The University is a large campus and therefore we are offering maps in both digital and physical forms to help our delegates get around. These maps not only include step free access routes but also indicate routes which have a steep incline.

Our digital map also indicates the fully accessible path that allows guests to travel easy between either ends of campus. You can find the map on our website and a link to our map will also be sent with your confirmation email or available as a physical copy on the event day.

The conference will be located across 3 of our most popular venues, Conference Auditorium, The Exhibition Centre & Roger Stevens:

Conference Auditorium

The conference auditorium lecture theatres are accessible by a ramp which is wide enough for wheelchairs, with handrails on both sides and step free access into the Lecture Theatre and into the speaker’s area. The speaker lectern is height adjustable. The space also has an assistive listening system in place.

There is an accessible toilet available to the left as you enter via the main entrance in the foyer. If you enter Conference Auditorium this way, there is a lift from this space that will take you between ground floor and upper ground floor (which has access to the ramp into the auditoriums).

Once inside the lecture theatre there are designated spaces for wheelchairs and assistance dogs. We also have spending pens on site.

The building operates a visual fire alarm beacon.

Exhibition Centre

Conveniently attached to Conference Auditorium is our Exhibition halls, this is a flat floor space with a dedicated entrance and all spaces can be reach via accessible lifts.

When the space is used for a conference our sports centre (The Edge) offers complimentary delegate use of onsite leisure facilities, including a gym, squash and tennis courts and a snooker and pool room.

This building offers gender neutral & adapted accessible toilets with changing spaces located on the ground floor.

Roger Stevens

Our Roger Stevens Building is at the heart of our campus with the outlook of the cooling pond which has contributed to enhancing biodiversity and research-led teaching. The pond outside Roger Stevens is also home to various flora and fauna, including Mallard ducks and ducklings.

There is step free access throughout most of this building via lift and level access across most facilities. Accessible toilets are available on floors 6, 8 & 10 with gender neutral toilets available on floor 6 & 8.
